CIP Award for Zone B Residents’ Committee

We are pleased to inform that our Zone B Residents’ Committee has been awarded the Bronze Medal for “Community in Bloom 2010” project. “Community in Bloom” is a nation-wide project aimed at enhancing the “unique ambience of Singapore”. The project has brought about 300 active gardening groups throughout Singapore, working on flowers, herbs, spices and vegetables, in public and private housing estates, schools, hospitals and welfare homes. TJRC-ZONE B is one of the 300 activity groups in Singapore.

2010 National Day Rally Feedback

Taman Jurong Swimming Carnival

The Taman Jurong Swimming Team participated in the Jurong GRC Multi-Racial Harmony carnival held at Bukit Batok Swimming Complex on 11 July 2010. The team took part in events such as Tug-of-war, Mass Swim and Dragon-Boating games. We are pleased to inform that they won the 2nd place in the overall ranking.

Youth Olympics Game Torch Relay

In celebration of the Singapore 2010 Youth Olympic Games, hundreds of residents and students gathered along Yung Sheng Road on 12 August (Thursday) morning to watch the arrival of the Youth Olympic Flame as it travelled to Taman Jurong! Our CCC Chairman Mr Goh Peng Tong PBM and CCMC Chairman Mr Ong Kian Chew PBM also represented Taman Jurong as torch bearers in this Journey of the Youth Olympic Flame!

Landscaping & Trees Planting At Corporation Park

Dear Residents,

As announced by Minister Tharman during the National Day Carnival on 8 August 2010, there are plans for further landscaping and trees planting at the newly renovated Corporation Park. This would help to reduce the temperatures especially during the day. Town Council will be proceeding with these works soon. Town Council will also work with Zone A Residents’ Committee to determine the appropriate time to switch off the lighting to the game courts. If you have any suggestions or feedback regarding the Corporation Park, please feel free to contact your Zone A RC Chairman, Mr Henry Lee Hui Teo.

Taman Jurong Celebrates 45th National Day

More than 3,000 residents and guests gathered at the newly renovated Corporation Park in Taman Jurong to celebrate our 45th National Day. Mr Tharman Shanmugaratnam, our Minister for Finance and MP for Jurong GRC, graced the event as the Guest-of-Honour and inspected the Guard-of-Honour formed by the uniformed groups from Yuan Ching Secondary School. It was an evening of great fun for the residents, starting with a Carnival with something for everyone. There were also exciting cultural stage performances.

Above all, the residents listened with interest to the inspiring vision painted by Minister Tharman for Taman Jurong and for Singaporeans. Please click here for Minister Tharman’s speech.
