Conversion of Lift System & Alteration to the Railing Height at Central Atrium at Taman Jurong Food & Market Centre

In response to our residents’ and stall holders’ feedback, NEA has kindly agreed to our grassroots’ leaders suggestion to convert the lift system, from the existing “duplex operation” system into a “single-car control operation” system. By doing so, both lifts can be individually controlled. When the conversion is completed, Lift 2 will be classified as a service lift to be used for goods carrying.  As for Lift 1, NEA will remove the pole and put up floor stickers to advise against goods delivery.

The plan is to carry out the works at night to minimise inconveniences to businesses. Although the actual works may only take about two weeks, some parts from Switzerland need to be ordered and the waiting time is estimated to be around 6 weeks. NEA intends to proceed with the works as soon as possible.

NEA also shared the same concerns that the railings at the central atrium are too low.  NEA will carry out some alteration works to increase the railing height.

Let’s continue to work together to make Taman Jurong a better place for us all.
