Crime Prevention Advisory – New Tactics by Unlicensed Moneylenders

Dear Residents,

Police would like to bring to the public’s attention some of the new advertising channels employed by unlicensed moneylenders, which include pamphlets, name cards, newspapers and the Internet. These advertisements often mislead the public into believing that the loan services offered are legal by reflecting a fake license number. These advertisements also offer approval of cash loans over telephone conversations and immediate cash deposits into borrowers’ bank accounts.
