Dear Residents of Taman Jurong

2011 is looking good for Singaporeans. The government’s Grow & Share package will help.  It is much larger than the increase in the cost of living for most. Incomes are also going up, and there are many jobs available.

At my Meet-the-People Session (MPS) every Monday evening, we are happy to be able to help many residents with their needs.

During the recent Lunar New Year, we gave hong baos to many senior citizens. We also helped another 350 students from lower-income families. And once again, we gave our own Taman Jurong awards to all those who have excelled in their studies or sports or in other ways. More students are also benefiting from our free tuition and reading programmes.

By later this year, we will see:

  • A Senior Activity Centre at Ho Ching Road, to help our seniors stay active and healthy.
  • A new, high quality and affordable child-care centre beside the CC.
  • More car park lots near Blk 153 Yung Ho Road.  And re-opening of car park lots at Blk 103 and Blk 105 Tao Ching Road.
  • Better bus services, especially to and from Lakeside MRT

I want to thank all residents for their feedback, either through my regular house visits or via the websites www.tamanjurong.sg.

For more information on what I am doing during this period, you may like to visit  www.juronggrc.sg

Together, we will make Taman Jurong a better place each year!

My warmest wishes

Tharman Shanmugaratnam
