With the opening of the new platform at Jurong East MRT station and introduction of 5 new trains, SMRT has added 4 train trips on the East-West Line from Joo Koon towards Pasir Ris and 2 train trips on the NSL towards Woodlands during the morning peak period. This means that trains will arrive more frequently, which in turn will help to reduce crowding at Jurong East MRT station. In December 2011, with more new trains becoming available for service, commuters can look forward to shorter waiting times of 2 to 3 mins at the busiest stretches. Read more
